KITWE โ€” Serenje Town Council is among Local Authorities attending the Website Content Management and Cybersecurity training in Kitwe, which has brought together participants from Luapula, Muchinga and Central provinces under the Zambia Devolution Support Programme (ZDSP).
The capacity-building programme has been organised by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD) through its ICT Department, in partnership with SMART Zambia Institute and the World Bank. It forms part of the governmentโ€™s broader effort to enhance digital governance, strengthen local authority websites, and improve cybersecurity standards across the country.
According to a circular by Permanent Secretary for Administration for Technical Services Mr. Nicholas Phiri, the training is designed to build technical skills for effective online service delivery as the government accelerates decentralisation and digital transformation in councils.
โ€œThis programme aims to ensure that Local Authorities have the capacity to manage digital platforms securely and provide timely, accurate information to the public,โ€ Mr. Phiri stated.
The ongoing workshop in Kitwe is the third and final regional hub following earlier sessions held in Chalimbana for Western, Eastern, Lusaka and Southern provinces, and Kabwe for North-Western, Copperbelt and Northern provinces.
The nationwide programme began on 24th November 2025 and is scheduled to conclude on 12th December 2025.
