SERENJE โ Residents of Kapeshi and surrounding areas now have access to quality healthcare services following the official handover of a new rural health post by Muchinga Constituency Member of Parliament Hon. Emmanuel Banda.
The facility, which includes a maternity wing, separate male and female wards, an outpatient department, staff accommodation and medical waste disposal facilities, will serve hundreds of residents who previously had to travel approximately 8-10 kilometers to reach the nearest health post at Ndabala.
โThis health facility represents hope and improved quality of life for our people,” Hon. Banda said during the handover ceremony.
He praised President Hakainde Hichilema’s commitment to improving rural living standards and announced plans to install water systems at both the health post and nearby Kapeshi Primary School using Constituency Development Fund resources.
Council Chairperson Mr. Staivous Mulumba thanked the President for increasing CDF allocations, describing the fund as instrumental in delivering essential infrastructure projects to communities.
Meanwhile, Muchinga Constituency CDF Chairperson Mr. Charles Sakala used the occasion to remind residents about the approaching deadline for 2026 CDF funding applications.
Mr. Sakala urged community members to submit their proposals early to avoid missing the opportunity for development funding.
The new health post reflects government efforts to bring essential services closer to rural communities through its decentralization program.
